T'was a very enjoyable match and performance from the Exiles today. One of the most memorable that most could remember.
Alex Brown opened the scoring with an early score in the corner. But Hayes hit back with three tries, two of which they converted to lead 19-5. Scouse rumbled over before the break to give us hope and earn a Blowfeld-like scar.
After half-time we were excellent. Steve Richards took the kick-off and rumbled up and from there we were set. It wasn't a day for outside backs as Chris and Jez kicked the leather off the ball to pin Hayes in their half. Barry found his range in the line-out and the pack were holding their own against a powerful eight in the scrum.
Jonathan Cowan grabbed our third and Danny Ford our fourth with a quick tap penalty to put us 22-19 ahead. Hayes hit back with a breakaway try, but we held our nerve and continued the processes that had served us so well.
Efe barrelled over in between Johnson Iwodi finally racing clear to score his first tries in an Ealing shirt.
